Boningale Nurseries expands into contract growing for retail market

The Shropshire-based nursery specialises in producing container-grown shrubs and perennials at its 44-acre site in Albrighton and produces more than one million plants every year for the professional landscaping market.

Now, after making a major investment last year in a new 3500 M2 tunnel that is capable of producing 80,000 two-litre plants per annum, the company is making plans to further expand its operation specifically for the retail garden centre and nursery industry.

After the recent, successful delivery of the first consignment of 20,000 two-litre shrubs to The Bransford Webbs Plant Company, further shrub lines are now being produced in 2lt, 3lt and 5lt sizes, for despatch  over the coming months to garden centres located across the UK.

Frank Sandford, Boningale Nurseries Sales Director, said: “With our expertise in growing for the landscaping and amenity sectors, it seemed the obvious next step for us to upscale our operation with a view to contract growing for nurseries supplying  the retail market; it helps us diversify in line with our companies objectives.”

“We are very excited to expand further and capture a small part of an important market, thereby increasing our portfolio. Because of our established reputation for excellence in the landscape and amenity sectors, we have already gained significant interest for our products from some of the leading garden centre suppliers.”
