Squires finance director joins Perennial board of trustees

Steven SquiresSquire’s Garden Centres finance director Steven Palmer has been appointed Honorary Treasurer of horticulture industry charity Perennial.

He joins the Perennial board of trustees on a voluntary basis to provide oversight on the financial performance of the charity and bringing his experience in garden retail to advise on Perennial’s commercial arm, GRBS Enterprises.

Steven comments: “Horticulture is often a poorly paid sector – it doesn’t take much for people to get into difficulty through no fault of their own and the consequences for them can be severe. For me there is a personal resonance with the aims of Perennial and its recipients and so I am pleased to be able to get involved and offer my time to help.”

Steven has been with Squire’s since 2009 and oversees the finances of the group’s 15 garden centres and 14 café/bars. Prior to that he had extensive experience in the leisure sector, holding FD roles at Novus Leisure and Cannons Health & Fitness Group.
