Plants2Gardens and other QVC suppliers make record donation to Garden Re-Leaf Day

The suppliers who contributed to shopping channel QVC’s Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 activities have helped raise in excess of £50,000 for the charity.

Presenter Richard Jackson hosted four Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day programmes on QVC, which ran for an unprecedented six hours over three days back in March.   During the broadcasts a minimum of £1 was donated from each unit sold by all the contributing suppliers to the special shows.

Plants2Gardens – just one of the suppliers involved in the shopping channel’s support of Garden Re-Leaf Day – raised over £10,000 alone.  Last week Greenfingers Head of Fundraising, Linda Petrons, visited Plants2Gardens Managing Director, Ken Evans, to collect a cheque for an impressive £10,989.

On receiving the cheque Linda Petrons commented: ‘What can we say…we are completely blown away by the incredible amount of money raised by the QVC programmes. Thank you so much to Plants2Gardens for their extremely generous donation – and to all the other suppliers for kindly donating money from all the products they sold. Thanks also of course to QVC for giving us so much airtime!’

Plants2Gardens were just one supplier involved in including products in the special shows, other suppliers included Hayloft, Montrose of Guernsey, De Jager, Unwins, Golden Gark, Wet & Forget, Bernini Fountains, Gripeeze gloves, Lawn Magic and Langdon European, as well as Richard Jackson’s own Garden Care Range.

Richard Jackson, who is also the Founder President of Greenfingers, said: “Our success with fundraising through the QVC shows could not have happened without the generosity of our suppliers, or indeed the viewers that purchased the products – many of which sold out in minutes.  The money we have together raised is quite simply a life changing amount for the children and families that use our hospice gardens – thank you!”

This year’s Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day took place on 27th March 2015 and saw garden centres, nurseries, suppliers and grower uniting to raise funds for the charity.  Other activities included a 20 plus mile Thames walk, the ‘glovies’ campaign which took social media by storm and many individual events organized by garden centres across the country.

The final figure from Greenfingers Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 will be announced later in the year, along with details on how funds from this year’s activities will contribute to children’s hospice gardens across the country.
