Plants, plants and more plants at the HTA National Plant Show

The show, now in its fourth year, brings together the best of British plant suppliers from seed, plug and liner suppliers to specimen plants and trees. More than a thousand plant varieties will be on show from exhibitors including Ball Colegrave, Blackmoor Nurseries, Forest Edge Nurseries, Gedney Bulb Company, Hillier Nurseries, John Woods Nurseries, Kernock Park Plants, Needlefresh Direct, Osberton Nurseries, Tamar Nurseries and many more.

 

Plant previews, launches and promotions are all on the agenda along with a great selection of show attractions:

 

New Plant Awards – sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society

New Plant varieties will be flourishing in the New Plant Awards, a showcase for the best in new plant introductions from UK plant suppliers and a selection of international breeders. Award categories include: hardy nursery stock, herbaceous perennials, climbers, annuals, house plants and breeder innovation, plus the Visitor Vote, sponsored by Floramedia.

There’s also the chance to vote for your favourite new plant in the Visitor Vote – visit the New Plant Area to see the plants and decide for yourself. Winners will be announced at 3:30pm on Wednesday 26 June.

 

Inspirational Seminar Programme, sponsored by Barclaycard

Opening the programme at 10 am on Tuesday 25 June, James Wong, botanist, presenter and obsessive foodie grower, will give his unique take on the future for Grow Your Own, sponsored by Suttons Seeds.

At 3pm on Tuesday 25 June, Michael Marriott, Technical Manager at David Austin Roses, shares his views on how to capture the imagination of your customers, how to build and promote a brand, how to sell a dream – not just a plant – and how to grow sales in the plantarea.  Have a read through our recent Q&A for a taster of what’s to come during his seminar on Tuesday afternoon at the show!

 

At 10am on Wednesday 26 June, Adam Pasco, former editor of BBC Gardener’s World magazine, and media and consultancy company owner, will present his plant-focused views on what the public will be looking for from their gardens and garden centres in the year ahead.

Visitors can buy their favourite plants from the show in the Marketplace which will feature sample stock from the growers exhibiting. Buyers simply make one order of any combination of stock and it will be all delivered the week after the Show in one load with one delivery note and one invoice.

 

The International Breeders’ Area provides breeders and their agents with the opportunity to promote their ranges of new varieties. Displays focus on new introductions of varieties that the breeder or agent is offering to UK growers for finished plant production.

 

ProVaR will be showcasing a range of new varieties for the UK trade that represent the best breeding from around the world. ProVar is a not for profit organisation established to promote protected plants to its members in the UK and to collect royalties. It represents 17 breeders and 187 plants from the UK and Europe offering the widest range of protected plants available to UK growers in a single catalogue.
