Petindex relocates to heart of Glee

Maintaining its individual brand identity and continuing to be the showcase for the latest and greatest from the pet care industry, the move of Petindex into Hall 5 of the NEC (from Hall 3a) will give exhibitors better and more immediate exposure with both pet care buyers, and garden buyers with an interest in pet products.

Nick Davison, Glee show director, explains the move: “Petindex is the only pet trade exhibition that attracts both national and international buyers from both pet and garden retailing. We wanted to make even more of these unique benefits by making Petindex more visible, particularly to those buyers that wouldn’t normally venture to Hall 3a.  Positioned as a clearly signposted, specific area of Glee Hall 5, Petindex 2011 will attract both pet care buyers, and the growing number of garden centres, supermarkets, e-tailers and department stores that have pet sections and concessions.  Naturally we are keen to ensure that the relocation into Hall 5 will not affect Petindex in terms of its identity, and will continue to be led by the expertise and passion of the Pet Care Trade Association.”

Janet Nunn, chief executive of the Pet Care Trade Association, agreed.  “Moving Petindex to Hall 5, to get up close and personal with Glee, is a sensible move in the current economic climate,” she confirmed.  “It means the UK will keep its annual pet trade show at this premier central location, to allow larger exhibitors to really showcase their full range. And it will allow the combined Glee Petindex show to work synergies better than ever before.  We at the PCTA commit to offer an enhanced programme of business seminars featuring a new, core theatre piece, ensuring the needs of pet specialists will still be catered for, as we shall deliver a range of training sessions, with CPD credits, as ever.”

The move into Hall 5 will also mean that Petindex will now open from Monday until Wednesday, in line with the opening times of Glee.  Nick Davison added: “Our visitor figures demonstrate that the 2010 show saw an increase in the number of garden centre buyers with an interest in pet products.  We believe that this growing demand, coupled with Petindex’s core visitors, will help bolster visitor numbers and sales interest even further in 2011; ultimately providing a rich and highly desirable showcase for the pet care industry.”
