Their restaurant offering has just got bigger and better, not just on the touch menu ordering screens but also in the kitchen, handling the preparation of meals and serving of tables. The brief was to use epos tills but still keeping that personal choice of waitress service.
In practice this allows the operator to see and offer the options available with a standard meal but also provide specific customer choices, e.g., “no gravy”. Products can also be branded with a picture and text to illustrate possible food intolerances such as nuts, wheat and dairy.
Open Retail have also been busy in website development offering customers full E-commerce on or linked to their existing website.
The shopping cart is integrated to the stock control system to allow product maintenance, website orders and sales analysis to be handled alongside the till. The user will be able to maintain products on their own site without costly delays or additional charges.
Their own website has recently been upgraded with the aim of providing better communication and assistance to their expanding client user base. The users will now get access to all manuals, upgrades, report and label samples, data import spreadsheets and training content by using this site.
Pictures sell products, so now by offering 6,000 plant descriptions and 20,000 pictures all linked into the product database there are lots of opportunities to use this knowledge base. There are the usual plant labels and bed cards with quite a number of designs for these. In addition to this they have increased the integrated signs that can be produced on the OKI colour laser printers. Pictures are also available for back office enquiry searches and for viewing on the till and radio handset as well.
Perhaps now you can see why it is worth paying them a visit and we still have to mention all the product feature enhancements which have been done in the last year. Radio technology, specifically stock taking handsets, just keep getting more powerful with more sites moving to rolling stock takes. The growth in multi branch clients has also seen new developments in Broadband linking operational centres for distribution of new lines and collection of stock and sales data. Finally with the pressure on current businesses the reporting pack continues to add more specific requests and export of information for further investigation in Excel spreadsheet.
In conclusion they are experienced in garden centre systems, have friendly staff and will not talk in computer jargon.
