TWO employees at a family-run garden centre in Bristol are celebrating this month (May 2009) after clocking up nearly 50 years of dedicated service to the business between them.
The longest-serving member of staff at Whitehall Garden Centre in Whitchurch is Garden Centre Manager, David Manning, who has been working at the garden centre since 1984, and started with the business when he left school at the age of 16.
Joining David, who has notched up 25 years of service this year, on the garden centre’s longest-serving employees roll of honour is Till Assistant, Sylvia Baber with 21 years’ service.
Peter Self, Managing Director of the award-winning garden centre, which has a workforce of more than 30, said: “We are very grateful for the dedication shown over many years by our longest-serving employees.
“They are the most important factor in running the business and we thank them for the years of service they have put in to make Whitehall Garden Centre a successful garden centre.
“They have become part of the community and know the customers, who rely on their help and advice.”
After David and Sylvia the next longest serving employee is Assistant Garden Centre Manager, Carol Keane, who has been with the company for eight years.
